First Day of Pre K3

OMG! I can not believe Harrison started PRE K on Monday. Where does the time go? He is such a big man now, and believe me, he lets me know! I was all prepared for a break down because he would be in a new class... NO SIR! He walked right in and never looked back... i wasn't even granted a kiss...WHAT? How can this be that my little man who gladly ran across the room to give me a kiss each and every morning since he could walk... would not come and hug or kiss me good bye.... i hung around waiting...with hopes that he would have a change of heart.... NOPE! What? I turned and headed out the door and tears began to roll down my face! My baby is not a baby! Then to make it worse for me, when i returned to pick him up, he started to cry and tell me that "he was not done at big boy school"..... another knife to the heart! He had a fantastic day and now he didn't want to leave to tell me all about it! We finally made it to the car and he was able to tell me about all the fun things he did that day! I just can not believe that i have a little boy that is in PRE-K!

Harrison will have two years of pre-school because of his October birthday, so Don and I have decided that we will keep him at First Baptist this year and use this year to find a school that we want to enroll him in for the last year of PRE-K.

After school we visited Nonie and Papa and Nina and he told them all about his day in big boy school!

Margarita and Salsa Festival

For the last three years Don and I have volunteered for the Arthritis Foundation at Margarita and Salsa Festival. We help in the contest part of the night, which is great, because we get to sample all of the goodies and then enjoy the great music. This years music was a good line up: KEVIN FOWLER, JOE NICHOLS, and PAT GREEN. We had fun and were able to get some good pics from the night!

Becky and Me-Becky is the person that got us involved with volunteering. I work with her at the Advocacy Center and she soon became a friend that i know i will have for life!

Friday Night Camp Out

Friday night after a long week, Don decided that he wanted to stay in and watch a movie and order take out... we went to Best Buy and bought Swiss Family Robinson... I forgot how much I liked that movie. What a blast from the past it was, Harrison really enjoyed the movie, and how could he not, it has all of his favorite things in it...PIRATES, ANIMALS of all kinds, and the OCEAN! Before we started the movie we thought we would build a tent or as the men in my life so politely told me it is not a TENT, it is a FORT! We had so much fun and we all fell asleep in the FORT. I guess life really is about the little things! Here are a few pictures of our camp out.

Cute Beach Cupcakes!!

Tomorrow is Harrison's end of Summer Party at school. Here is a pic of the cupcakes that I made for it. Cute Beach Cupcakes.... can you tell we still want to be at the BEACH! Those are Teddy Grahams swimming in the ocean and the sand is Graham crackers that are ground into fine powder.... and what beach wouldn't be complete with out a BEACH UMBRELLA( drink umbrella)! I know the kiddos will love these! But with the end of summer party also comes promotion to the next room....PRE-SCHOOL! WHAT..... PRE-SCHOOL...where is my baby at? The time has gone way to fast!

More Port Aransas Pics

Brooke and Mindi... Brooke was able to come down the Friday before we left and spend some time with us. We had lots of fun with her. Harrison adores her. Once she was there, no one else mattered!

Beach Buggies

We rented beach buggies one afternoon while we were in Port Aransas! So much fun! We drove on the beach all the way into Mustang Island. Then we turned around and drove to the end of the island! We had so much fun. Harrison fell asleep on the back while we were riding, so we buckled him up and off we went again! What a fun day we had.

Crab Huntin'

I have fond memories of chasing crabs on South Padre Island, so I was super excited to get to do this with Don and Harrison. Crab Huntin' was a HUGE success! We caught 15 sand crabs. Those little things can RUN, it was so much fun walking the beach at night and spotting them with our flashlight! A memory I will cherrish forever!

Beach Fun!

These next few pics speak for themselves! We spent Saturday August 9th - Sunday August 17th in Port Aransas.. growing up I spent summers in South Padre Island, Don had never been to the Texas coast and this was also the first time for Harrison to go to the beach! What fun we had!!! Each of did exactly what we wanted to do while on vacation. Harrison was not a big fan of being in the ocean, but sure did love the BEACH! Don surprisingly enough was a HUGE fan of being in the ocean! HE LOVE IT! He rented a kayak two days while we were there and spent a good amount of time Boogie Boarding! Harrison and I spent most of our days at the pool at our condo. Harrison made lots of friends while we were there and loved being in the water just as much as i did!!;)

Where did his legs go????
There they are! Breaking FREE!
Walking to the beach..it was overcast this day.
Enjoying the waves!

Texas State Aquarium

We took a break mid week from the sun and beach to go to the Texas State Aquarium. Going mid week was a good idea because there was not a large amount of people there which made the attractions a lot more fun and we could spend as long as we want at each one with out being rushed! What a great time we had. There were several touch pools to touch different types of sea life and a great dolphin veiwing area! Well worth the drive back inland. We were able to touch Sting Rays and see tons of sea life up close and personal.

Road Trip Pics!

Here are a few pics of the travel day to Port Aransas! The kids did great in the car and we took the time to take a few pics of us too! We also stopped in Aransas Pass to get groceries before we got on the island.... needless to say, we STOCKED UP! And yes we still had to go to the double price gorcery store on the island half way through the trip!
